If you’re planning a wine tasting trip through North Georgia or Dahlonega, there’s one question that comes up almost as often as “which wines should I try?” and that’s where can I actually get good food at a vineyard?
Most wineries in the area offer a cheese plate or a bag of crackers. A few let you bring your own food. But very few have a real, dedicated food program built around what’s growing on the property and designed specifically to pair with the wine you’re drinking.
Doghobble Wine Farm in Dahlonega, GA is one of those rare exceptions, and for a lot of visitors, it’s the reason they keep coming back.
What Makes the Food at Doghobble Wine Farm Stand Out
Doghobble isn’t a winery that happens to have food. It’s an 80-acre working farm where the food program is treated with the same care as the wine. The kitchen, the garden, and the vineyard are all connected, and you can see it, taste it, and feel it when you visit.
There are two main areas to eat and drink at Doghobble, and each offers a different experience:
The Trellis, Chef Becca’s Seasonal Kitchen
The Trellis is Doghobble’s indoor tasting room, set inside a beautifully restored mid-century farmhouse. This is where you’ll find Chef Becca’s full seasonal menu, shareable plates, charcuterie boards, and dishes built around what’s fresh and available from local farms and the on-site garden.
Chef Becca sources ingredients hyper-locally whenever possible. Her garden, right on the property beside the pizza truck, produces basil, herbs, and seasonal produce. In the fall, she works with figs and persimmons harvesteddirectly from the farm. Every dish is designed to pair naturally with Doghobble’s wines, and the seasonal menu rotates to reflect what’s growing.
The Trellis has cozy indoor seating by the fireplace, covered porches overlooking the vineyard, and a relaxed vibe that makes you feel like you’re visiting a friend’s home. It’s adults only (21+) and offers both guided and self-guided wine tastings alongside the food. For weekends or groups of 6 or more, reservations through Tock are recommended.
Dietary accommodations: Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available. Just let the staff know when you order.
The Embers Pizza Truck, Wood-Fired Pizza at the Pavilion
At the top of the property, the outdoor Pavilion on the Plateau is home to the Embers pizza truck, a wood-fired pizza operation serving Italian-style pizzas with both meat and vegetarian options. The truck is open Thursday through Sunday during regular business hours.
This is the more casual, family-friendly side of Doghobble. Grab a slice of wood-fired pizza or an order of empanadas, find a spot on the lawn, and take in the views stretching across the vineyard, pastures, and forest below. Kids can run around, families can spread out, and you might catch an alpaca wandering by.
No reservation needed at the Pavilion, just show up and settle in.
Handmade Empanadas by Belén de la Cruz
Doghobble Wine Farm is the exclusive vendor in North Georgia wine country for Belén de la Cruz Empanadas & Pastries. These aren’t an afterthought, they’re handmade, baked empanadas that guests rave about in reviews. One visitor wrote that the empanadas at Doghobble were the best food they’d ever had at a winery.
Special Food & Wine Events
Beyond the daily menu, Doghobble hosts seasonal dinner events that take the food experience to another level. Recent and upcoming events include:
